CONCRETE FAQ's

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER CONCRETE FOR MY KITCHEN OR BATH?

Concrete is a practical and expressive material that can be molded and shaped into almost any form. You can grind the surface for many different finish choices.  Concrete can come in many color choices, in fact, you can integrate more than one color in your surface. You can also choose to inlay meaningful objects to personalize your product!

WHAT ADVANTAGES DOES CONCRETE HAVE OVER OTHER MATERIALS SUCH AS MARBLE AND GRANITE?

The biggest advantage is that concrete allows us to customize each countertop to our clients tastes and architecture.  PRICE?  Well depending on how creative and custom you want to get, concrete is very competitive with granite and marble prices, usually saving you money in the end!  However, prices will vary depending on the job.  Call us for a basic price sheet!

ARE CONCRETE COUNTERTOPS MAINLY FOR URBAN OR MODERN HOMES?

No, Concrete can adapt to any style, traditional and modern!  By our choice of color, design, edging and style, your countertop will only enhance your existing interior.

CAN I USE CONCRETE AS A CUTTING SURFACE?

As with marble and granite, we can't reccommend that you cut on concrete, as it could result in scratches in the surface, as well as harming your knife blades.  Many homes are choosing to inlay cutting boards or surfaces directly into the countertop. Functional and giving an extra element of design!

WHAT ABOUT HEAT ON THE CONCRETE COUNTERTOPS?

Concrete is heat-resistant but is subject to thermal shock is a red-hot object is placed directly on it.  Like granite, the exposed area may flake or chip away if the sealer and wax is affected.  To reduce this possibility, we reccomment trivets inlayed into the counter to place hot cookware upon.

DOES CONCRETE STAIN?

Concrete and marble have about the same porosity.  Acids can stain the concrete if left unattended on the surface for a period of time.  However, our countertops have an extremely stain, heat and chemical resistant sealant, which greatly reduces the chances of staining your concrete!!
